Overview and Salient features
- Under provision of Indian Partnership Act, 1932 minimum number of partner is 2(two) and maximum numbers of partner is 20 (twenty).
- Under Section 58, of the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 the registration of a firm may be affected at any time by sending by post or delivering to the Registrar of the area in which any place of business of the firm is situated or proposed to be situated, a statement in the prescribed form and accompanied by the prescribed fee etc. as per prescribed formed issued vide Govt. letter FTX.185/2001/63 dtd. 20th Dec. 2001.
Over all process flow for service
Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum two partners and maximum 20 partners who agree to share the profits of a business carried on by all or any of them acting for all is eligible for registration of a firm under Indian Partnership Act, 1932.
Fees including the payment mode
Registration fee of Rs. 5/-
Mode of Payment:
Online: The requisite fees to be paid through EGRAS payment gateway only.
Offline: Head of Account "1475-other General Economic Service-fees under Indian Partnership Act, 1932"
Accompanying Documents required
- Either a Judicial Magistrate or a Charted Accountant must be a witness. The nature of business should be stated in brief along with the names of the firm at item-A. Signatures of the partners should be given in full.

- Scanned Copy of Registered Deed of Partnership in original.
- If the firm claims that Its office Is situated on a land, owned by it, Proof of ownership of the land should be furnished. If the office is situated In a rented building an affidavit from the house owner along with photo ID proof of the land owner should be furnished.
- A copy of passport size photographs of all Partners along with their Aadhar Card, Voter ID & Pan Card to be furnished.
- Copy of GST Registration/VAT Registration if any is to be uploaded aong with Pan Card of the firm.
How to apply
Partners can apply for registration of a Firm by filling up Form No. 1 and submitting documents as per checklist.
